Codes count for as long as they are valid; the click window applies to link clicks.
Choosing the hold
The hold is your refund window for commissions. A refund that arrives during the hold reverses
the commission before it locks. One that arrives after it locks can’t change it: it becomes a
negative entry that nets against the creator’s next payout, and if the creator never earns again,
that money isn’t recovered. So keep the hold at least as long as the time in which most of your
refunds arrive; your store refund reports show it. A hold of 0 locks every commission straight
away, before any refund can reverse it. If you’re unsure, keep the default of 30 days.
The commission lifecycle
paid period ──▶ pending ──(hold passes, no high-severity flag)──▶ locked ──▶ paid
│
└── refund during the hold ──▶ reversed
- Pending: earned on a paid period. Store-verified, deterministic and typed-code signals are approved automatically; others wait for you.
- Locked: the hold has passed. A locked commission never changes in place. Corrections are new, linked reversal or adjustment entries with a reason.
- Paid: included in a payout batch you approved and marked paid (or transferred through Stripe).
What doesn’t earn
By default: free trial periods, sandbox purchases, family-shared purchases and refunded amounts. Commission is calculated on net proceeds: price minus the store’s commission minus tax.
Refunds after payment
A refund that arrives after a commission was paid creates a negative reversal. It nets against the creator’s next payout instead of being pulled back from their bank account.
